A Tear and Foiled Flowers

Hello, how you doin'! Stopped to share a couple more cards.

After trying for a very long time, I finally got the Stacked Animal stamps from Simon Says and this bird is the reason I wanted it. Too me, he looks bereft, like he just lost his best friend. That worked well for CASology's cue word, "Tear" this week. I read it as tear, (weeping vs. tear, ripping up something), and this is the outcome. The semtiment is from Wplus9. Does he look sad or just perplexed to you?
The best part of this whole card is the Prima Rub-On adhesive for foiling on the background. I used Heidi Swapp's foil and it worked (huge fist pump). The flowers were stamped using the toner pen and foiled via a Minc machine. Then attempted "shading" the parchment paper flowers like I learned in the most recent OCC, Clear & Sheer. You're supposed to use tools I don't own so the suggested alternative was the end of a paper clip. As you can see, it wasn't very successful. To accent it more I tried a little grey Copic behind the centers. After all that, inlaid a Simon Says diecut sentiment into the hexagon, added sequins and called it done. Do you think it's too elaborate? Fortunately, I know someone who likes this kind of stuff  (called brouhaha, in my book). Sharing this with Simon Says Wednesday-Flowers (second try) and Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media-Shine challenges.

  1. You are too funny and oh so sensible....I think the birdie can look both-sad and perplexed/bewildered. Love your experiment with foil (I am too chicken in the foil dept.). I love the composition of the 2nd card and didn't think it's too elaborate. Thanks for the kind comments today, they are always so uplifting and encouraging. So glad that you join the fun over Simon Says Stamp Wednesday “Flowers” Challenge!

  4. Wow, what amazing texture-y, dimensional florals, Coni ... you've combined drama and softness with such style ... the added pizazz from the foiling is brilliant! Your little bird ... poor soul, yes, bereft, bewildered, befuddled ... you captured 'tear' so perfectly ... his expression and single tear dripping into that pool say it all ... in such a sweet way ... I love it! Hugs, Anita :)
