As you know, when you use dies on your cards, you often have left over diecuts that sadly lay on your desk like little orphans. I always feels bad about that and (horrors of horrors) can't bring myself to throw them away. This time, I decided to use them immediately, so let's get to the actual cards.
This one is for the Time Out CASE challenge. Kay Miller made THE prettiest card and I loved it so, I almost copied hers. The card also works for the current Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes Die Cut challenge. Isn't that lucky?

Then I grabbed the die leftovers (should have another name for them) and did this for CAS(E) This Sketch. I love it when the universe comes together to make cardmaking easy.

Well all my diecuts are gone for today...gotta go make more. Ciao!
Oh, these are both so fun and pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat die is BEAUTIFUL!! if was the perfect! addition to your stunning card! You make Kay proud girl!

What a great die that is and a new one to add to my NBUS wish list, darn you! I think your CASE is beautiful, Conil! And excellent care was taken of the orphans, too!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteOh, I got a Kay Miller vibe from your card as soon as I saw it! And what a fabulous take on the sketch using leftovers! Two fabulous cards.
ReplyDeleteEasy cardmaking is so rare. I'm impressed that you knocked out TWO little lovelies - each with their own bright personality. As for the name... hmmmm "dexcesses" (die excess) DCLs (die cut leftovers) Dieproducts (like byproduct, but with dies) dicurplus (die cut surplus). You really shouldn't give me a word challenge! I could spend all day on it.
ReplyDeleteOh but I'm glad I did...personally, love dexcesses. Second to that dicurplus...laughed so hard almost...well...you know.
DeleteWhat a beautiful card CASE-ing Kay Miller's card. Love those flowers and frame.

These are both so pretty, and I love how you used both the negative and positive of the die cut! I'm like you, I always hate to throw things away and am always looking for ways to use my leftovers :) That wonky die is on my wishlist!
ReplyDeleteWow, such fun you had crafting! These cards are all great, I love your beautiful CASE and the fun, artsy look of your second card. Thanks for taking TIME OUT and joining our challenge!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning card, clean lined and stylish. Thank you for joining us at HLS Anything Goes With Dies. Good Luck! Emma HLS DT member
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are so delicate and intricate! Love them~
ReplyDeleteYour right, the left over die-cut negatives do need their own name. Let me know if you think of one and I will get my thinking cap on too. Love your CASE of Kay's card, that wonky square die you used is so cool and the floral stamps so pretty. I just know Kay would love it too!! And well done you using the 'die-negs' straight away. I don't like throwing them away either and often keep them with the dies, just incase... Your CASE this sketch design is fabulous and you do the splatters so well. Hope you get a chance to make many more 'lefties' over the weekend and always love it when you play with us at TIME OUT!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are both stunners, Coni! A gorgeous CASE of Kay's card ... love the double frame within a double frame highlighting that delicate font in the sentiment ... so perfect with those delicious Fresh Cut Florals (a fave set!). Oh my, Doodle Buds and yellow ... with grey and vellum ... and splatters ... sigh ... simply lovely! Sorry, too blown away by these beauties to think of anything clever to call those orphan die cuts ... looking forward to hearing a new word coined though! So happy, as ever, to have you playing along with us at Time Out! Hugs, my friend! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteAlways get excited when I see you name on my email list (does that sound creepy?). Thanks for the kind words. Anyway, Becca suggested dexcesses or dicurplus...what do you think?
DeleteLove your creative takes on the challenges! I know the results may not turn out the way we envisioned, but the journey is always worth it, right! Craft on, Coni!
