You may remember it and, if interested, grab a beverage and relax...this is a long and photo heavy post. It's also a bit fiddley...not sure if that's because I'm slow or just fiddley, myself. This is only my 2nd tutorial, so please don't judge...however, constructive advice is always happily accepted. Parentheses indicate what I used...your supply list is entirely up to you.
Disclaimer: The card in the tutorial is NOT the same card shown above, but very similar.
1-Assemble supplies. Solid Image Stamp Set (Sunny Studios-Autumn Splendor), (5 1/2 X 4 1/4 Watercolor paper panel-Tim Holtz), Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock (CS), (Zig Clean Color Markers), (Antique Linen Distress Ink), VersaMark Ink & Marker, (VersaFine Ink Onyx Black), (Ranger Gold Embossing Powder), Fun Foam, Adhesive. Tools: MISTI, 3 inch circle die, 2 Acetate sheets or other clear product (I used stamp set packaging), small paint brush, palette (using a piece of white cs inside one of the stamp packaging), powder bag for embossing, pencil, ruler.
2-Diecut a circle from Neenah CS and one from Fun Foam which you set aside. With a pencil and CS circle lightly trace it on Watercolor paper and, using the ruler, mark tick marks at the top, bottom, left and right, like on a compass.
3-In your MISTI, place the Watercolor paper about an inch or so left of the right corner (I drew a line around the CS for future reference).
4-Place clear acetate over the Watercolor paper and place CS circle within the traced circle with the tick marks at each compass position. Secure the circle and transparency with the MISTI magnets.
5-Arrange your stamps, half in and half out of the penciled circle. Place your sentiment within the circle wherever it fits and is pleasing to your eye. (You may need to move the magnet to an empty spot of the circle if it's in the way. Just be sure the circle doesn't shift.)
Note: This is the fiddley part. If you don't have enough stamp images to surround the circle, arrange the ones you have so you can add more later making sure to leave enough room for them. Close the lid of the MISTI (your stamps should be secured in place).
6-Open MISTI and ink stamps with VersaMark Ink. Use powder tool to remove static from circle. Close lid and stamp circle. Open and lift the circle and tranparency off the MISTI leaving your Watercolor paper inside and your stamps on the lid...DO NOT SHIFT THE PAPER OR MOVE THE STAMPS. (As you can see below, I chose to stamp my sentiment in black VersaFine. This is just an option.)
7-Apply embossing powder to the circle and heat set it.
8-Clean off stamps in the MISTI and ink them up with a very light colored ink. Close the lid and stamp the Watercolor paper.
Repeat steps 3-8. Set completed circle aside...you're done with it, for now, .
Are you still with me???
9-Take out your color medium (I used Zigs) and watercolor the half of the images outside the circle on your panel. (Enjoy it, this is the fun part.)
10-On this card, the veins of the leaves needed embossing so I added with Versamark ink, masking the stem length to avoid already colored images, applied gold embossing powder and heat set. You do not necessarily need MISTI for this, but it is a little quicker.
11-Erase any pencil lines still showing on your panel.
12-Back to your embossed and Fun Foam circles. Trim the Fun Foam about 1/8 or less around the circumference of the circle. Apply adhesive to the foam and adhere it to embossed circle.
14-Add adhesive to the back of the, now foamed/embossed circle and CAREFULLY position it over your painted/embossed Watercolor panel, matching up the images and keeping the sentiment straight.
Et voila, you're done with the panel. If you've lasted this long...you're to be commended.
I added spatter to the original, you get to do whatever you want.
I just hope this wasn't too tedious for you and, if you choose to do it, that you're pleased with your results. If you have any questions, be assured I will answer them. Bye!
Thanks for the step by step on this amazing card. So worth the effort. Gorgeous colouring and gold embossing x
