It's time for the Twofer Card Challenge...Nautical theme this fortnight, which inspired me to finally use this Memory Box sailboat die that I've been hoarding...er...I mean, has been in my stash for a while. My wunderlust is working right now and this card reflects it perfectly.
Diecut my the boat and colored with Copics. Ink blended a setting sun on a circle, then diecut with Honey Bee stitched die. Used a Trinity Stamp stitched die on a watery watercolored panel, then cut a slit to nestle the boat into the waves. Attached the water to the circle with low profile foam tape and trimmed it. Stamped a Pink Fresh sentiment on a cardbase and, using the same foam tape, attached the circle to it. Added white gel pen to create some prow foam and a wake.
Alcohol inked translucent Yupo in several colors creating a striped pastel background. Diecut a slew of the sailboats and arranged them over the colored panel. Using a Simon Says die, layered the diecut over pale pink vellum, then stacked two more of the same diecut to make it sturdier. Glued it fluch to the background. Stamped and embossed a Hero Arts sentiment within the circle and called it done.
Oh WOW!! Both of these cards are GORGEOUS!! I adore the second one. So clever how you made that background!!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome designs, Coni! You did a beautiful job with the setting sun and ocean and foam on your circular sailboat design and I LOVE that sediment! (It's appealing to us, but the young'ns would say, "As if!" lol!) Your second design is so innovative and really effective from that striped background in lovely colors, to the sailboat layered pattern, to the way you did your sediment which reminds me of a boat steering wheel!! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #19! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteWhat a relaxing, serene ocean scene, Coni ... I'm transported to that bobbing sailboat under the setting sun ... and it's fabulous! The white die cut boats are deliciously crisp and precise ... against the yupo/AI stripes, they make such a cool background for the wheel house style sentiment! A super Twofer ... thanks so much for playing along with us! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with your first sentiment, Coni... and now I'm hoping you are thinking of sailing the Big Lake in your gorgeous ship! LOve your water colored sunset... and that ai swiped background, too! I'm standing on the pier waiting... xx

Two wonderful cards, Coni! Your sailboat looks brilliant in the water. Such a great sentiment too! I love your pastel stripes with the white pattern of boats - it's a great way to use that die! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
ReplyDeleteAmazing cards Conil - and they couldn't be more different! I'm particularly drawn to the first with its bright background and that fabulous sentiment :)
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards, Conil ! Your sunset is just stunning and makes a lovely scene with the sailboat. I'm also in awe with your beautiful AI background, you make me want to buy translucent Yupo paper now...Thanks for sharing.
